[ACPI-sppt] 2.5.70 and ACPI resume "pccardd" strangeness

Hi Folks..
I've been running 2.5.69-bk2 with ACPI sleep states
very succesfully on my Clevo laptop. (ACPI sleep/resume work great)
However, I've "upgraded" to 2.5.70-bk2 and now upon resume
the process "pccardd" pins the load (actually two such processes, which 
eat up 100% CPU)
This isn't just specific to 2.5.70x kernels, I noticed that 2.5.69-bk19
does the same thing.
In my limited understanding, this is a pcmcia thing, when built without 
pcmcia support, everything works as before.
Couls anyone speculate or authoritatively indicate what has changed in 
the kernel or possibly offer a patch ?
It's a shame, I hope it's not a pre-cursor to future kernels.
Note that this occurrs with or without a pcmcia card installed,
no amount of inserting/removing etc kills the process.
Sorry for my naivety..any help greatly appreciated!
