From what I can understand, since I am not running X windows when this problem occurs, and starting up X still doesn't restore the display (I can't see any faint image when the display goes out); this means that it's a DSDT problem? This leads me to a few questions... 1) A lid event happens when the lid is closed, am I to asume there should also be one when the lid opens? (I have no way to check what's happening till I get home to a second monitor, or at least a second machine to ssh in with) 2) Does anyone have a known-good DSDT for a laptop with a lid switch, one that the lid switch events work and the display goes on and off? and if so, can I aquire the AML (is this the right term) for it? I'd like to compare the way the dell DSDT is written, but I have no known-good system. 3) I was going to use pmtest, but it seems to not compile with gcc 2.95.4. However it does compile with both 3.0.4 and 3.2.3 (compiler bug?) This leads to the next problem that I can't insmod pmtest.o, it gives an error of "Error inserting 'pmtest.o': -1 Invalid module format" Is there anyone knowledgeable with modules who could take a peek and see what's missing for kernel insertion? I asume I'm missing a subroutine or something but I just can't seem to nail it down. That's all for now, folks :] --hachi Several people wrote several different messages, which I am kinda replying to them all, so read the archives if you want to see them :) ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Etnus, makers of TotalView, The best thread debugger on the planet.
