I have patched the latest RH 9 kernel with ACPI 20030523 and it works
fine on my laptop (with patched DSDT, as usual). You can get the RPMS of
the patched kernel from
http://ltswww.epfl.ch/~dsanta/resources/dell-i8500-linux
Note that the RPM does not contain the patched DSDT, so it is not laptop
specific. It contains however the patch to  get the DSDT from initrd.
