Has anyone else had a problem with the 2.4.21 patch as described below?
I'm using 2.4.20...This email was originally sent to me in response to the
HOWTO I've written. I'm working on getting a newer version up at the LDP,
it's just going through the review process right now. I'll include the
information below if it is actually relevant.

The patch was acpi-20030619-2.4.21.diff, applied to a vanilla 2.4.21
kernel. The settings were not "wrong", but "make-kpkg kernel_image" (or
"make-kpkg configure") overwrote .config, replacing it with an almost
identical version, except that most of the CONFIG_ACPI lines are missing
from the new file. The only one that remained was CONFIG_ACPI=y.

This did not happen with the same final 2.4.21 vanilla kernel and patch
acpi-20030523-2.4.21-rc3.diff.gz. The new version from June 19th differs a
lot from the May 23rd version, though.

Best,

Christoph
