Tape, tar, dd, blocksize

Hi, I'm contemplating the following backup strategy: 1) tar an AIX server nightly, rsh'ing the output to a Linux box. e.g. tar cvf - / |rsh remote buffer -o file.tar 2) Use dd to copy file.tar to tape. Then I can take the tape offsite, and still have a copy of the backup readily available. Is there a certain block size I should be using with the dd command to write to tape on the Linux server?
