Original query: > 2003-07-30 11:32:17 socket bind() to port 25 for address > 146.232.128.43 failed: > Cannot assign requested address: waiting before trying again > 2003-07-30 11:32:47 socket bind() to port 25 for address > 146.232.128.43 failed: > Cannot assign requested address: daemon abandoned Thanks to Bertrand_Hutin,Jeff Woods, Ayhan Kanmaz, Mike Kercher, Jim Carroll, paulv and Kevin Enslow for replying. The consensus wat that some process was keeping port 25 busy. However nmap, lsof -i [email protected]:25 and netstat -ap (I did not use netstat -plant before I the problem was solved) did not reveal which process it was. In the end I removed the mta from the system and re-installed and reconfigured it. I did not have the same problem since. Anyhow now I know that that error message means and I have learnt about the -l option of netstat. Thanks again. Regards.
