Problem with two machines running Iptables

hi, New to this site...I have a weird problem..lets c if anyone here can help me out. the setup consists of 2 machines running squid, iptables and masquerading. and a layer 4 switch. Machine 1 accepts incoming http requests and iptables maps it to another port the request is then forwarded to layer 4 switch which sends it to machine 2 again running iptables.... The problem is that during this process sometime http requests get denied........can anybody give me some idea to fix up this problem??????
