Folks! I'm a newbie. I have a RD Adv.Server 2.1, which is not a DNS in my LAN, but a workstation designed to house an Oracle database. ALL I want to do is three things: 1) Give my Linux node a name (network identification) 2) Enter the I.P. address of the DNS server in my LAN 3) Enter a static IP address in my node, so other workstations in my LAN can ping it. After I ensured that my ethernet card works, from the graphical interface I use Programs->system->Network configuration. Everytime I enter something and press 'Apply', the utility crashes, and tells me that this is 'probably a bug' and that I should report it. My question is: Is there ANY other way, and most preferably, a Unix like command from the console that sets these network things up? I'm a little desperate on the matter, so if anybody decides to help me out on this, thanks in advance!! __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Get better spam protection with Yahoo!
