updating bind

Hello,
 
I an trying to update my bind install on RH ES3 using RPM. Current version
is 9.22-21 and I am trying to update to 9.24-EL3-10. Using rpm -Fvh
bind-9.2.4-EL3_10.i386.rpm gives me the following output:
 
error: Failed dependencies:
        libdns.so.11 is needed by bind-9.2.4-EL3_10
        libisc.so.7 is needed by bind-9.2.4-EL3_10
        libisccc.so.0 is needed by bind-9.2.4-EL3_10
        libisccfg.so.0 is needed by bind-9.2.4-EL3_10
    Suggested resolutions:
        bind-9.2.2-21.i386.rpm
 
So then, trying: rpm -Fvh bind-9.2.4-EL3_10.i386.rpm
bind-libs-9.2.4-EL3_10.i386.rpm gives me:
 
error: Failed dependencies:
        libdns.so.11 is needed by bind-9.2.4-EL3_10
        libisc.so.7 is needed by bind-9.2.4-EL3_10
        libisccc.so.0 is needed by bind-9.2.4-EL3_10

        bind-9.2.2-21.i386.rpm
 
which obviously is the same. The bind install on this system is in a chroot
jail and to be perfectly frank, I do not remember if this was installed via
a tar ball or an rpm (I didn't do the install) but I am guessing an rpm
because the 9.22 rpm is indeed installed. So the question is, how can I go
about solving these dependencies? Also, perhaps a stupid question, but is
there a way to determine if a package was installed by rpm or from a tar
ball? I seem to recall an instance where there was an rpm install on a
machine and a tar ball install of the same app was installed along side of
it.
