Archeology/ future of alsamixergui

Dear all,

I filed a bug regarding alsamixergui[1] since it only goes into deadlock 
after startup. Also a Gentoo bug exists[2] assuming it being dead.

Does anyone know a former developer, a source repository or homepage? Is 
there a simple graphical alternative for Alsa in general? (Xfce's mixer 
applet cannot unmute/ mute and offers only main control. Envy24* and 
successors only work for ICE-chips.)

If it were a few tweaks of the code I'd take over.
