Summary: arkinstall hung ~41% through "extra Software" CD until I
                    strace'd /bin/rpm
           Product: Ark Linux
           Version: Dockyard
          Platform: pentium3 (PC, Intel)
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: Overall Usability
         Component: rpm
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [email protected]

Description of Problem: I don't know where the problem really lies with this
bug so I'll report it against "rpm". After an install, initial reboot, and
install of the developer tools CD, I plugged in the "extra software CD". I am
about to close bug 31 because that defect was not reproducible. Packages WERE
installed this time -- yay!

However, there was another problem. It appears as if "rpm" stopped getting CPU
cycles at ~41% through the extra-sw CD... on a whim I strace'd the /bin/rpm
process and rpm started to get CPU time again. When I interrupted (control-C)
strace, rpm stopped getting CPU time again (stopped ~85% complete) and when I
strace'd it _again_, it started running _again_. This time I left it alone
(let strace and rpm do their thing) and sure enough, rpm calls exit and the
install completes.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Dockyard, 20-Jan-2003.

How Reproducible: don't know

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install and initial reboot on a 2-way
2. Install all packages from developer-tools CD
3. Install all packages from extra-Software CD

Actual Results: hangs ~41% complete

Expected Results: no hangs(?!)

Additional Information: Note this happened on a 2-way box.
