Description of Problem: Follow-up from bug 159, when I ran arkinstall by hand 
(in a konsole window), selected all 'uninstalled' package groups, and told 
arkinstall to install them, I get the following spew of messages:

.. furthermore, once package installation started, there were other error 
messages thrown:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Perform install of CD #1 with 8-May-2003 dockyard
2. Insert Devel-tools CD into CDROM drive
3. Run "arkinstall" from konsole window
4. Select all package groups not currently installed
5. Tell arkinstall to install everything selected
