Summary: problem with ac97 sound card
           Product: Ark Linux
           Version: 1.0 alpha8
          Platform: i586 (PC, Intel)
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Low
           Affects: Hardware Support
         Component: sndconfig
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [email protected]
         QAContact: [email protected]

Description of Problem:
the ac97 sound card (using the via 82xx driver) has a few problems. First,
the headphones volume control in kmix changes the master volume, not the
master volume slider (master volume does nothing). Second, when system sounds
play a slight buzzing is heard.

How Reproducible:
If you have the card, you can reproduce the effect (other people with the same
card have had the same problem as me).

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install ark linux on a computer with an ac97 card (or vice versa)
2. Do something that plays a system sound (like closing something or switching
desktops)

Additional Information:
If alsa is rolled back to a prior version it seems to fix the problem (I
haven't done this myself, someone on the #arklinux channel with the same card
as me said it).
