Summary: Installer sets XFree resolution too high for older
                    monitors
           Product: Ark Linux
           Version: 1.0 alpha5
          Platform: i586 (PC, Intel)
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: High
           Affects: Overall Usability
         Component: Installer
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [email protected]

Description of Problem: Installed alpha5 on Gateway PII 400 with integrated ATI
Mach 64 video, attached to CTX 1451-c monitor. Install was fine, but on initial
boot GUI was jittery, with multiple ghost images.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How Reproducible: Same results 3 times with this hardware

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Do simple install where video card is capable of higher resolution than the
attached monitor.
2.
3.

Actual Results: As described above

Expected Results:

Additional Information: When I hooked up a newer monitor which supported the
resolution set up by the installer the desktop looked fine. I then used 'Mission
Control' to set the monitor and resolution for the CTX, and reattached it, and
everything was fine. Would suggest that installer default to lower (800x600)
resulotion when it is unable to properly define the monitor.
