Summary: USB Camera Creates Broken Link To CD Writer
Product: Ark Linux
Version: 1.0 alpha9
Platform: i586 (PC, Intel)
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: Low
Affects: Hardware Support
Component: arklinux-release
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
QAContact: [email protected]
Description of Problem:
A Hot Plug icon appears when I attach my USB camera (USB Mass Storage Device),
but is set up to use /mnt/cdwriter, which fails since fstab contains no such
entry. Curiously, an identical Hot Plug icon is always available (before
attaching the camera), and also points to /etc/cdwriter, failing for the same
reason.
Even more curiously, attaching *OR* detaching the camera causes auto-start CDs
to fire-up (noticed this with the extra software CD in the drive). Yes ...
curiouser and curiouser.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Alpha 9
How Reproducible:
Every time
Steps to Reproduce:
1. attach camera
2. detach, etc
Additional Information:
The fault does not appear to be with the low-level recognition of the camera.
This is what I saw in /var/log/messages while disconnecting, then reconnecting
the drive:
Dec 18 01:45:49 localhost kernel: usb.c: USB disconnect on device 00:07.2-2
address 3
Dec 18 01:45:50 localhost default.hotplug: ======= START HOTPLUG FOR PID 16579
=======
Dec 18 01:45:51 localhost usb.agent: ==== usb.agent called with action remove
Dec 18 01:46:12 localhost kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:07.2-2, assigned
address 4
Dec 18 01:46:12 localhost default.hotplug: ======= START HOTPLUG FOR PID 16903
=======
Dec 18 01:46:12 localhost usb.agent: ==== usb.agent called with action add
Also, attaching the camera had no effect on /etc/fstab, which niether
contained an entry for a USB camera, nor one for the imaginary CD Writer. mtab
contains some lines which *may* be relevant -- I don't actually know what the
purpose of mtab is. Just in case:
usbdevfs /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs rw 0 0
none /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc binfmt_misc rw 0 0
Finally, this bug is very likely related to bug 105, but is not the same
thing.
