Summary: CD burning
Product: Ark Linux
Version: Dockyard
Platform: i586 (PC, Intel)
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: Low
Affects: Overall Usability
Component: kernel

Being that CD burning is one of the most needed and hard to do tasks,
everything that makes it easier would be a plus.
If someone installs Ark Linux and latter one he goes and buys a CD-R/W or a
DVD-R/W and plugs it he won't be able to use it untill he makes some user
unfriendly changes to the GRUB... and those changes would prevent an HD to work
if it is placed where a CD-RW was, so, there's another better way to do it.
IDE-SCSI emulation doesn't have to be defined at GRUB time, it can be defined
latter if (and only if) ide-scsi emulation is compiled as a module, that is, it
can be configured when loading the module.
What would be great would be to check what CD-RWs are present (is that too
hard ?) and the load the ide-scsi emulation module with the right parameters to
enable it for those CD-RWs present.
Thanks.
