This problem has been mitigated down to the usual 'driver availability' problem
we have with PCI devices, thanks to marcd's new hardware detection API.

PCMCIA is still somewhat problematic generally, because not all MFGs put useful
information in their PCMCIA devices.  That being said, there should no longer be
a situation where the network configuration tool does not see a device. (of
course, the network config tool currently in use (alpha 11.2) is 2 generations
removed from the one this bug report was file on.)
