Hmm, yes, this is bad.... 
 
Not only does it break FHS, this breaks common senbse that /usr/local is to be 
used only by the local admin. Personally I'm not in favour of having 
the /usr/local tree there in the first place, since really it should be 
in /opt... but I digress. 
 
The use of the alternatives system from Debian, MDK, and PLD is a good idea, 
especially in this case. What do we need to do to add this feature?
