Summary: "su" has issues with users other than "arklinux"
Product: Ark Linux
Version: 1.0 alpha6
Platform: i586 (PC, Intel)
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: High
Affects: Overall Usability
Component: coreutils
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
QAContact: [email protected]
Description of Problem:
For users other than "arklinux" the "su" command will not work, and the password
is not accepted. When using KDE apps, an error is also generated when using
utils that need root access.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
su: 4.5.3
How Reproducible:
Very, very.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a new user
2. Log in as new user
3. Attempt to run the Mission Control/Video and Monitor/Video and Monitor Settings
4. You are presented with a prompt to enter the root password
5. The error message below is shown upon entering the correct root password:
Sorry - KDE su
Conversation with su failed
Actual Results:
Cannot enter "su" as any user other than "arklinux".
Expected Results:
"su" should work as per any other distro. This is *not* a wheel-related issue
as the "arklinux" user is also not in the wheel group.
Additional Information:
Typing "su" at a command prompt (for new users user other than "arklinux")
immediately returns the following error:
su: incorrect password
This happens without offering you a password prompt as expected.
