Assistance with info for a symposium

I've been asked to do a symposium sept 15th with a very general topic: 
The exciting future of Linux.  What I need are your thoughts on
what new developments / uses / projects regarding linux could best be 
used to impress an audience of college students.  I figure it would
be best to be distribution neutral, but I plan to use Ark for all 
demonstrations and points of reference.

I have to fill 50 minutes, so let the ideas flow :)
