It could be convenient for pre-windows users to add Captive to the portage tree.

Captive uses Wine to emulate certain parts of the windows subsystem in order to 
provide full reliable read/write support for ntfs partitions in linux. It 
integrates fully into the system and will add the nessecary files in fstab.
