Recent Dockyard-devel safe?

I tried installing dockyard-devel recently and wound up having the 
installer fail because it couldn't install ark-version-info and some 
other package. I usually do check the md5sum every time I download an 
iso although I can't remember if I did that time or not. As an 
interesting side effect of the failed installation I couldn't boot 
Windows or Linux, my computer would boot up with a message that there 
was no operating system installed. I used a windows 98 boot cd to run 
fdisk \mbr hoping that would restore the master boot record to a state 
that would boot Windows, but that ended without success. Further 
investigation with a knoppix Cd revealed that everything on the hard 
drive was still intact but Windows still wouldn't boot. In the end I had 
to use the Windows XP Cd to reinstall Windows and then use knoppix again 
to restore the hard drive images I made out of paranoya so I wouldn't 
have to reactivate Windows every time this happens (microsoft put a 
limit of 50 activations on Office 2000 iirc, I didn't want to be the 
first to discover such a limitation in Windows XP :-) ).

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this, it's a given that 
every once in a while something inexplicably strange happens and then is 
never heard of again. I'll wait for a reply before I try downloading + 
installing dockyard-devel again.
