I seem to be getting into a lot of trouble lately, this problem is particularly interesting. After getting X to successfully start again I used ark a little while just to see if all would work well again, for the most part everything did but one of the reboots was my 20th without running e2fsck and it ran automatically because I didn't catch it in time to cancel, the thought never even crossed my mind. Now I am unable to boot Windows XP, I don't know what went wrong but I do know there were no significant updates from the point I first booted to right now. I suspect the problem occurred when e2fsck ran because that was the only thing that did anything to my filesystem. To be quite frank I don't consider anything dockyard-devel did responsible for this, I'm started to get mad at Windows though for being so delicate, this happens too frequently, sometimes it seems random, and it only happens when Windows has to share a drive with an ext2, ext3 or ReiserFS partition. If anyone has some suggestions as to how I could recover Windows that would be nice, I do still use it for games and for hardware support, otherwise I don't mind letting the thing sit for a few days until I have time to reinstall. The error message Grub gives me seems like a complain that it cannot read the drive, I have installed ntfsprogs in Ark but don't know how to start the ntfs filesystem check tool if there is one, and the ntfs partition will not mount. Getting Ark to work in exchange for loosing Windows would seem like a good trade, if only I didn't still need Windows :-(
