September 7th Meeting

Another sunday meeting has come and gone.  Those of us who were present 
made the determination that the backend code will be perl based.  We had 
a sum total of 5 people show up for this meeting, with 0 of them being 
people who have shown an interest in being web developers. 
We really, and I can't stress this enough, REALLY need you guys to come 
out for these meetings.  This is really our ONLY chance to determine 
your level of participation, and what we can safely put into your 
hands.  It's very hard for us to countenance giving the big projects to 
people who can't show up for once-a-week meetings, or, at the very 
least, give a heads up that they can't come.

Not to mention the fact that decisions ARE being made at these meetings, 
and if you are not present, you lose your ability to influence the 
direction of the project.  We take no 'votes by proxy'.

We have scheduled a make-up meeting for Tuesday at 7pm Eastern US time.  
I realize that this is likely a horrible time for you far-easterners, 
and I will gladly try to accomodate you in any way I can, just shoot me 
an email ([email protected]).

PLEASE contact me if you are interested in contributing, you have time, 
but for whatever reason simply cannot make it to the meetings as they 
are timed currently.  I want to give as many people an opportunity here 
as possible, and we are trying to be as flexible as we can.  We DO have 
a timetable, however, and can't afford to wait  until every person has 
time.  If you come to the meetings, you WILL get the opportunity to 
share your thoughts and opinions, and we WILL be very keen on listening 
to you.  

If you come regularly and establish that we can rely on you in the 
little things, then it is very likely that you will be given projects 
and will be considered as part of our Web Development Team.  There are, 
of course, no promises at this stage in the game, but our vision for Ark 
Linux is for it to one day (hopefully soon) be more than a "community 
project", and we WILL need dedicated site maintainers, so this may be 
something to keep at the back of your mind.
