Our supplemental meeting was short but productive. We still tried to
stay away from backend specifics for this discussion, and were able to
establish a consensus opinion on prospective site layout.

Generally, we will be modifying the existing site layout, keeping
some/most/all of the current graphics and adapting them (where possible)
to the new layout.

The new layout concept will follow these guidelines:
   - The layout must be clean and uncluttered (amended: uncluttered on
screens 800x600+)
   - The layout will remain simple, yet highly functional and user-friendly
   - The layout will be comprised of a horizontal navbar at the top of
the screen, containing buttons
for navigating to general areas of the site (similar in function
to the current site) ; a vertical
navbar on the left of the screen comprised of links to both the
general areas, AND specific
sub-areas within those general areas. Specific content will be
displayed in the main portion of
      the window.
    - The existing color scheme will be maintained for the new site.
    - search and language widgets may be placed on the Ark Linux titlebar

Specific content discussions will begin once we have a concrete site
framework.

Topics for discussion for the upcoming meeting on Sunday:
- any outstanding issues to date
- begin discussion of proposed/desired content (will be an ongoing topic)
- begin discussion of proposed
login/authentication/directory/permissions methods
- begin discussion of proposed backend needs/issues/functions and
developer resources to
   accomplish each.

MY goal is to have the majority of our main issues squared away by the
end of the September 21 meeting, and to start delegating tasks asap
afterwards. That may seem soon, but we cannot afford to treat this as
an unimportant side-issue. Our website is our "Public Face to the
World" and while our current site serves its original purpose, we really
need to move toward a more professional and informative site.

If we work together, this will not be a problem :)

Once again, if you know you can't make it to a meeting, please just
shoot a note to this list, to myself, to saint, or mention it to one of
us in IRC. If you have ideas you want put forward in the meeting, you
would be best served by sending your ideas to me WITH your note that you
can't attend, and I will make sure that your voice is heard. We want to
give everyone an opportunity to contribute, but if you can't see your
way to letting us know not to expect you, then we have a hard time
seeing our way to bend over backward to hear your opinions.

Thanks again to those of you who have given of your time to be with us.
We DO sincerely appreciate it.

Have a great week!
