Likewise! My mum like operatic tenors, but that's about it. Someone must
have had an interest though as I discovered we had
a mini acoustic guitar - could have been a large bass ukulele? Only 4
strings, and that got me started, a few tips from a school pal
and I was busking away with late 50's pop. Migrated to 6 strings and was
in demand for beach parties etc. for a while. Dabbled in Jazz,
folk, a bit of classical. I had a few lessons at the guitar school run
by John Williams's dad, but never managed to get decent
finger nails! Got persuaded to switch to bass guitar when the church
bass player moved to London, but I now switch between the
two as we have a very accomplished guy from Hong Kong. He's much better
than me! Dabbled in computer music over the years, starting with
an Atari, and a second-hand copy of Steinberg Pro. Moved on to Linux on
a PC, with a bit of composition, but of late just playing in
the church band. Recently rebuilt the church Compton organ replacing all
the guts with a PC (Linux) running GrandOrgue.
