Not any personal experience myself, but the term of trade you may be
looking for in the various filter sets is a "notch filter".  Those
suppress just a very narrow band around a single frequency.  When the
band is narrow enough, even notes played at the exact frequency will
mostly survive (though switching them off abruptly may keep them
"ringing" for a bit) unless they are sustained at constant volume.
