Compressing a quad-channel signal

Hey hey, I have to compress a 4-channel signal. This is in the mastering stage. Because I do it all in Csound, I have to take care of the niceties myself. The Csound compressor has an explicit sidechain input. Should I use a scaled down mix of all channels as the sidechain inputs to the separate channels or just sidechain each channel by itself? I appreciate any tip you can give me.
