gethostbyname fails

I have 2 programs that I compiled under
RH 6.2, and moved over to Aurora 1.0.
Both crash as they come up giving:

gethostbyname: No such file or directory

  I figured a recompile would fix all,
and after a clean recompile I get the same
behavior.
   Has anyone else had a similar problem?
