Dear listmembers, did anyone out there ever successfully install an PCI-IDE-controller on a Ultra 60 machine? I always get a kernel panic after the controller has been found, tried two Promise controllers so far (U33 and U133). Switching to ide=nodma kernel feature does not help. I cannot dump the errorlog, because I could not build this as a module, so the kernel starts booting, but before the scsi-controller driver is being initialized, the system dies. It is hard to write down a page of hexadecimals of a system crash - cannot dereference null pointer or something similar is announced as the last signal of live. Sigh. If that keeps going, my DVD-burner will never work. Any suggestions are highly appreciated, take care Dieter -- ----------------------------------------------------------- E-Mail: Dr. Ing.
