question on ide-scsi / kernel 2.4.20 (all aurora patches included)

Dear listmembers,
whenever loading ide-scsi, the following happens:
Subject: system locks up after modprobe ide-scsi
requesting modprobe ide-scsi on sparc Ultra60 with kernel 2.4.20-SMP (IDE
support compiled in) reliably locks up the system. The last words
in /var(log/messages are:

Enabling debugging messages in ide-scsi.c overcomes the problem: IDE devices
are recognized and useable. Digging deeper into the problem shows, that only
both printk's in 'idescsi_do_request' are really necessary. Here stops my
knowledge about kernel and subsystems, so some help or hints would be greatly
appreciated.
