Status

So, I'm well aware that a lot of people are waiting on Corona (err, I
mean Fedora)... and I wanted to let you all know where things are at.

Right now, there's a bug in binutils that is causing pretty much
everything of value to be built slightly incorrectly. The immediate side
effect of this is that elfutils (e.g. eu-strip) won't recognize the
binaries/libraries as valid ELF files, and won't strip them. Most of the
applications still seem to run ok (even things as complicated as
OpenOffice), but I doubt everyone wants to install 7 CDs worth of
binaries full of debugging symbols. We're not SuSE (err.. Novell)
afterall. ;)

I noticed this a while back, as did Balint. We thought we had a fix for
it (removing one of the checks from elfutils), but after talking with
the elfutils maintainer, that is definitely not valid. I had been using
that fix to build the tree, and again, everything worked when
stripped... well, everything except one: glibc for sparcv7. Which
happens to be more than a little bit important.

So, right now, I'm entirely on hold until the binutils bug is resolved.
Once that happens, every package in the tree will have to be rebuilt.
This is going to add a pretty significant delay. :/

Jakub is looking into the binutils issue for me (because I understand
about as much Latin as I do binutils source), and hopefully, we'll have
a fix for it shortly.

So please, just be patient with me, and know that I'm working.
