I'm seeing this quite frequently. I'm using an automounted NFS directory
for my home directory and I usually see this when I'm shutting the
machine down. I've always pu it down to the fact that some process with
my user ID might still be running (hence using that mount), but I never
actually investigated it.

I've seen this only once, upon X startup, when X mysterially reverted
from 1280x1024 to 1152x900 (and reverted back as mysterially after the
next reboot...) - not enough to investigate. :-(
