Hi spot.

Just when I have it all here, I just wanted to send you this
information from the gcc development irc channel... to keep it logged

Date: 2005-01-28, localtime GMT+1, on #gcc at irc.oftc.net

(14:45:06) ChJ: good afternoon... let me ping you about
http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=19300 ...
(14:45:11) gccbot: gcc bug #19300: [4.0 Regression] PCH failures on
sparc-linux Product: gcc, Component: target, Severity: normal,
Assigned to: [email protected], Status: NEW
(14:45:52) pinskia: sparc-linux is very low on everyone's minds right now :)
(14:46:28) ChJ: i see, well, if I can provide any additional info, pls
let me know
(14:46:37) stevenb: sparc-linux is very low on the minds of very few
and not at all on everyone else's, even ;)
(14:48:09) ChJ: i just kinda like it, and there's Aurora SPARC Linux
2.0 coming soon, based off of FC3... so, I just want to chip in if I
can... and then there's the TLS binutils bug on sparc-linux too that I
solicitate help with...8-)
(14:50:25) Phython: ChJ: I think that requires a kernel fix
(14:50:51) ChJ: hmm, let me tak that back to spot
(14:51:44) Phython: ChJ: the last time I mentioned pch failures on
sparc-linux David Miller said PCH was unreliable without some kernel
changes to not have MAP_FIXED clobber memory'
(14:52:10) pinskia: oh, so it is in fact not "really" a regression :)
(14:53:11) Phython: pinskia: I'll try to find the email
(14:53:55) ChJ: well, 3.4 works and 4.0 doens't under the same
kernel... so... but if you claim it's more a kernel issue, I won't
argue against that, I'll just take it back to spot, pjones, and jakub
I guess
(14:55:07) stevenb: ChJ: maybe 3.4 was just lucky ;)
(14:55:12) ChJ: right
(14:55:23) pinskia: PCH is that way if not done correctly
(14:56:23) stevenb: %lart whoever came up with this PCH desgn
(14:56:24) ***gccbot throws the 'hacker' logo at whoever came up with
this PCH desgn
(14:56:41) stevenb: so appropriate...
(14:58:42) ChJ: Phython: Do you find that e-mail?
(14:59:19) Phython: ChJ: http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc/2004-11/msg00232.html
(14:59:21) Phython: I just did
(14:59:33) ChJ: thanks
