open position: Contrib Coordinator

Hi folks,

we have an "open position" in the Aurora SPARC Linux Project:

We could do with someone collecting, testing and posting "contributed
packages", i.e. rpms that someone compiled on Aurora and look like being
useful. The process would be the following:

- The Contrib Coordinator (CC) gets an email address and shell account on
auroralinux.org: [email protected].
- Anyone who'd like to submit a contribution (like e.g. apt-rpm or xfce)
sends the src.rpm and a "README" to [email protected]. The README
should describe the purpose of the package, the origin of the original
source code and any prerequisites for using the software.
- The CC looks if this compiles and installs on a clean (updated) Aurora 1.0
system (preferably one sun4m and one sun4u, one of them smp).
- The CC puts the src and binary rpms on auroralinux.org and posts a not to
http://auroralinux.org and to the aurora-user mailing list.
- If time permits, the CC would make the world a safer place by tracking
security advisories for the original sources of contributions and contacting
the provider of the contrib rpm if he/she can provide an update. Then mail
aurora-security with the announcement of the update - or a warning about the
package.

So, if you'd like to be the "Aurora CC", you need
- a good internet connection (surprise;-)
- one sum4m and one sun4u to play with
- some knowlegde about rpm building and basic html

An install server (tftp/kickstart) and a current server for automatic
updates would make the job easier. I could help with setting those up.
