Hi all, I’ve been running Aurora Beta2.0 on my Ultra 10 (333MHz UltraSPARCIIi with 128MB RAM and 20GB HDD) for around 6 months now. It’s been working as my mail and web server as well as my network router and development platform. Lots of work for a little box, but once I got past the prelinking issues it’s been plain sailing. I decided to take the plunge and upgrade to the final release of 2.0 so I used yum to upgrade the system. All the downloads and transaction tests went through fine, but when it came to the installs, I got this; --- Updating: redhat-menus 100 % done 1/384 Updating: hwdata 100 % done 2/384 Updating: fonts-xorg-75dpi 100 % done 3/384 Updating: glibc-common 100 % done 4/384 warning: /etc/localtime created as /etc/localtime.rpmnew Updating: glibc 100 % done 5/384 /usr/sbin/glibc_post_upgrade: While trying to execute /usr/sbin/iconvconfig.sparc child terminated abnormally error: %post(glibc-2.3.6-0.fc3.1.sparc) scriptlet failed, exit status 115 Updating: zlib 100 % done 6/384 Updating: glib2 100 % done 7/384 Updating: libpng 100 % done 8/384 Updating: libxml2 100 % done 9/384 error: %post(libxml2-2.6.16-3.sparc) scriptlet failed, exit status 0 Updating: e2fsprogs 100 % done 10/384 Updating: qt 100 % done 11/384 Updating: info 100 % done 12/384 error: %post(info-4.8-2.2.sparc) scriptlet failed, exit status 0 Updating: gamin 100 % done 13/384 error: %post(gamin-0.1.1-3.FC3.sparc) scriptlet failed, exit status 0 Updating: alsa-lib 100 % done 14/384 Updating: arts 100 % done 15/384 Updating: grep 100 % done 16/384 error: %post(grep-2.5.1-31.4.sparc) scriptlet failed, exit status 0 Updating: krb5-libs 100 % done 17/384 Updating: openssl 100 % done 18/384 Updating: shadow-utils 100 % done 19/384 error: %pre(dbus-0.22-10.FC3.2.sparc) scriptlet failed, exit status 0 error: install: %pre scriptlet failed (2), skipping dbus-0.22-10.FC3.2 Updating: libtiff 100 % done 21/384 Updating: gtk2 100 % done 22/384 error: %post(gtk2-2.4.14-4.fc3.3.sparc) scriptlet failed, exit status 0 Updating: pygtk2 100 % done 23/384 Updating: pygtk2-libglade 100 % done 24/384 Updating: zlib-devel 100 % done 25/384 Updating: rhpl 100 % done 26/384 Updating: bzip2-libs 100 % done 27/384 error: %pre(kdelibs-3.4.2-0.fc3.2.sparc) scriptlet failed, exit status 0 error: install: %pre scriptlet failed (2), skipping kdelibs-3.4.2-0.fc3.2 Updating: dbus-glib 100 % done 29/384 Updating: bzip2 100 % done 30/384 Updating: libgnomeui 100 % done 31/384 Updating: libungif 100 % done 32/384 Updating: foomatic 100 % done 33/384 error: %post(foomatic-3.0.2-13.4.sparc) scriptlet failed, exit status 0 Updating: wireless-tools 100 % done 34/384 error: %pre(hal-0.4.7-1.FC3.sparc) scriptlet failed, exit status 0 error: install: %pre scriptlet failed (2), skipping hal-0.4.7-1.FC3 Updating: samba-common 100 % done 36/384 error: %post(samba-common-3.0.10-1.fc3.sparc) scriptlet failed, exit status 0 Updating: kdebase 100 % done 37/384 Updating: kdepim 100 % done 38/384 error: %post(kdepim-3.4.2-0.al2.1.sparc) scriptlet failed, exit status 0 --- At this point I killed the Yum process, but any commands result in either a “Bus Error” or a segfault. I can’t make new SSH connections but old ones are still up. I have most of my data backed up, but I have email on the system I’d like to retrieve and also a lot of work has gone into configuring things like webmail, VPN and routing. Is this system fixable? I’m okay with Linux, but not an expert. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. If I have to flatline the box and reinstall using the new 2.0 isos, would it be better to install to another HDD and then mount this one and copy the data/configs off to the new disk? Many thanks in advance.
