blackdown.org  have a build of java 1.4.1  I have not tested it though.  I'm  
not aware  on what you would need to do to get tomcat working with it  or 
even if the jre works.

Corona contains tomcat  built on the GCJ java stack.  It  is not yet a 
complete tree and I would not recommend its use yet.  But in the near future  
there will  be a complete open source java stack for sparc linux.   While  
this doesn't help right now  there is some  light at the end of the tunnel.
