Apologies first because I'm about to ask a lot of basic questions. I've
followed Aurora since the early days of v1.0, but haven't really had the
time to play with Linux and learn as I was intending. I recently inherited
two Netra T1 105's with Disk Packs attached (with I think a few more 105's
coming my way shortly), they had become redundant in what they did and I was
asked if I wanted them. Being a bit of a magpie I jumped at the chance and
now have them sat in a rack in my office. I was hoping to use them for
learning Linux on. I already have an Ultra 10 at home running Aurora 2
(although I have hardly every used it since installing it), and was thinking
about installing it on these new servers. At the moment what I know about
Linux you could write on the back of a stamp so bear with me!!

The first thing I noticed about these servers is they have no keyboard,
mouse, monitor outputs. They simply have a dumb terminal attached to the
console port. I've never done a text based install from the CLI is there a
"How to?" for doing this with Aurora? Am I likely to run into any problems?

They are currently running Solaris and I have no idea of how the disks are
configured etc.

With my limited knowledge of Linux I was also wondering if after I get
Aurora installed it would be possible to run up a remote GUI interface? Like
the one I have on my U10 but obviously over the network? Or will I be
limited to talking to it from a console?

Lastly, I guess I need to think of something useful to do with them, I was
thinking maybe a Web Server, FTP and SFTP, possibly a place to drop backup
files from my laptop etc. Can anyone think of any other things I might want
do with them? I realise this is a bit of an open question but thought I'd
ask it anyway!

Final question is, I have a standard KVM with PS2 inputs .. does anyone know
if I could either make (preferred option) / buy a cheap converter so I can
hook up my U10 at home to the KVM? The main reason I haven't played with it
much is mainly because I'm limited for desk space and don't have room for
another Keyboard, and Monitor.

Cheers!

Kevin
