You might want to try quicktables ;)  Its nothing more than a shell 
script that generates all your iptables settings...so there will be 
nothing to compile :)  http://qtables.radom.org

Unfortunately, I see they are no longer doing development on it :(  But 
2.3 is accessible and it is the version I use at home :)
