It has to be a Sun VGA card, something like a Raptor.  An ATI RAGEIIC card 
might possibly work.  Or you could find a UPA Creator, Creator 3D, or Elite3D 
on eBay and get a 13W3 to DB15 adapter and have a better framebuffer.

You can use a serial console, though.  Perhaps the box is set for the default 
display to be a UPA card that's no longer there, or maybe even hard-set to 
use the serial console?
