Am I alone in thinking that the Solaris kernel is bloated? I have an Enterprise 420R (4x 450MHz, 4GB mem) and I had to wipe it and install Solaris 10 so I could move up to JDK 5. I have noticed a huge difference in speed and responsiveness. Solaris 10 drags @$$. I wish Sun would go ahead and release Java in a self-bootstrapping form. But I understand perfectly well why they are not in a hurry. I suspect that the biggest reason people actually use Solaris is simply because that is the only way they can run Java on Sun hardware. -Ash _______________________________________________ Aurora-sparc-user mailing list [email protected] http://lists.auroralinux.org/mailman/listinfo/aurora-sparc-user Aurora FAQ: http://www.ecs.soton.ac.uk/~mas01r/aurorafaq.html
