Not completely true.
STOP+N only resets the variables values (just as 'set-defaults' does).
To initiate this, press STOP+N while you power on the system.
Obviously it only works with a SUN keyboard.

You use the correct commands, but in a different order.
Use 'show-disks' to display a list of attached disks. The output also
tells you what to do.
I.e. type b if you want to select the disk that is displayed as item b.
Then use 'nvalias variable_name ^Y'.
Variable_name is any name you like, but be careful when using an existing
name. Use 'devalias' to display those.
^Y (CTRL-Y) will insert the string you selected when typing b after
'show-disks'.

To delete aliases the 'nvunalias' command is your friend.
Again, use 'devalias' to display all aliases.

Another very useful command is 'sifting'.
If you are looking for a command, but don't know the exact spelling, only
know it has something like 'show' in it, then type 'sifting show', and you
get a list of all commands and routines that have the string 'show' in it
(like show-disks, show-screens, etc).
