$man cdrecord

I don't mean to be glib, but it really is the best way. Check dmesg | grep =
-i cd and do all the sensible command line research and diagnosis first, es=
pecially cdrecord -scanbus and then with checkdrive and driveropts=3Dhelp o=
nce you've confirmed it's address.

I've got an admittedly pretty crappy USB CD writer hanging off my Ultra60 t=
hat doesn't seem to like 2.99 much, although it's worked in previous releas=
es.

Cheers.
