LCA 2019 Potential Bid - Gold Coast

Hello everyone, I am writing to register interest in bidding for LCA in 2019 - Destination: Gold Coast. The Gold Coast is Australia’s sixth largest city, situated on the south coast of Queensland [0]. It is home to a number of beautiful beaches, great surfing conditions and plenty of sunny weather. If sand is not your thing, the Hinterland region is just a short drive away, where you will find a number of bush walks, wineries and other forest areas you can explore. To add some excitement to your trip, you could also visit one of the many theme parks, such as Dreamworld, Movie World, Sea World and Wet’n’Wild. In 2018 the Gold Coast is hosting the Commonwealth Games. This has resulted in a number of new infrastructure projects, such as the light rail stretching the length of the coast. An LCA held on the Gold Coast in 2019 will be able to take full advantage of this. It is likely that a number of people on the organising committee will come from HUMBUG [1], which has run a number of events in the past. This includes LCA in 2002 and 2011 as well as PyCon Australia in 2014 and 2015. If you are interested in being a part of the organising committee for this bid, please email me.
