Linux Australia deceived in relation to Jacob Appelbaum

(I tried to send this on the [linux-aus] list but the list is being
censored by a Google employee who didn't declare his conflict of
interest, Julien Goodwin. Censorship is a violation of the code of
conduct. To uphold the code of conduct and the integrity of Free
Software in Australia, I've put all participants on CC so anybody who
has an important contribution to make on this subject can work around
the Google employee)

In June 2016, Russell Coker, Debian Developer and others lobbied[1]
Linux Australia to make a statement shaming and humiliating another
volunteer, Jacob Appelbaum.

Debian's records[2], released today, show that various tactics were used
to conjure up victims who didn't exist in Debian. Moreover, Enrico Zini
from the Debian Account Managers clandestinely lobbied[3] ITWire, an
Australian publication, to suppress the views of other Linux Australia
participants in their reporting. In the four years that have passed,
not one person ever made a formal complaint against Appelbaum.
Australia is a country that values human rights dearly and the
presumption of innocence is one of those rights.

I'd like to request that the Linux Australia board:

a) provide a full account of all private communications received by the
board in relation to this matter, including any threats of boycotts and
threats against officers of the association

b) clarify why the board chose to make a public statement naming and
shaming[4] somebody who has never been charged with a crime in Australia
or any other country

c) appoint an independent audit to investigate whether Linux Australia
was deceived or manipulated and how the board acted at the time

For those who prefer the censorship of Twitter to the censorship of a
mailing list, additional news has been appearing here:
