Certainly disappointing, and concerning. I first saw a comment about this on
the Fediverse today/yesterday. I'm surprised this hasn't been raised
earlier.

Looking back in the mail archives for linux-aus@ and announce@ I see nothing
that indicates there is a lack of teams submitting proposals. But, I'm also
surprised that the only call for proposals for running these conferences is
from April 2023[0]. And that was asking for proposals for the '24 and '25
conferences, no mention of '26.

Surely some follow ups, prompts, etc, would be in order?

Hoping folks have a good in-person conference next week, sadly I won't be
