Hi, Matt /(and other crew)/,

Every person is different to every other (a factor most politicians seem 
to never get the hang of). My last direct organisational involvement was 
at LCA2003, in Perth, during which I (mostly) ran an Education 
mini-conference.

Since then: three children, two grand-children, multiple relocations, a 
near-fatal traffic accident and some significant extended social trauma 
have somewhat interrupted such things.

I have a couple of local (Albany, WA) volunteer roles, however 
organising around those would not be extremely difficult. There are a 
few other tangential socially-fragile factors. Probably the single most 
significant remaining obstacle would be dealing with the needs of my 
(mobility-limited, odd medical issues, and also an extended trauma 
target herself) spouse — which, without going into the details, would be 
complex.

I am very much in favour of the whole mini-conference concept, as it 
opens connections between Linux and other communities (and, of course, 
between those other communities directly) which can often achieve things 
which are basically inconceivable for many of the people with a 
point-of-view centred on corporate, financial and/or political issues.

In many Real Life situations, one glance can tell you that whoever set 
up a situation (or process) does not use it every day. I have seen the 
melding of interests in a mini-conference many times begin eliminating 
such conceptual boundaries.

I have no specific LCA/OE path forwards for myself, yet hopefully one or 
a few of you with a different context can contribute some useful insights.
