Dear community,

We are seeking feedback from members of the Linux Users Victoria (LUV) and Linux Victoria (LV) communities on the current state of each organisation. For noting, Linux Users Victoria has been a subcommittee of Linux Australia for several years, but in recent times has stopped responding to our requests for updates as are expected from all subcommittees.

It is currently not clear to the Linux Australia Council whether these are the same organisation, given not all of the membership appear not to know of a name change, nor has Linux Australia been officially notified of a name change.

Over the past year we have seen concerning behaviour, which have prompted several threads both publicly and privately to LA Council from concerned community members:
* The members of the LUV member mailing list were copied to a third party mailing system, purporting to be a replacement announcement list for Linux Victoria.
* The luv.asn.au domain lapse due to the LUV team being unable to access the domain, followed by domain contacts being changed to be the Linux Victoria president email address.
* Unclear elections for LUV/Linux Victoria - the LA Council was told elections had occurred, however many LUV members reported not knowing there were any elections.

We would welcome any feedback to be sent to us at [email protected] or via a reply to this thread if you are happy for it to be public. I would ask that you do this by Sunday 19 July, after which the LA Council will review and decide what the next steps to take should be.

Kind regards,

Joel Addison

President
