Package: kernel/linux

This is from my friend Ryan who was trying out lnx-bbc. All of this is
after mount -o remount,rw of the partition in question.

[root@lnx-bbc:/mnt/rw/discs/disc0/part5]# ls -lsa
total 682626719
4 drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 Feb 2 15:16 .
0 drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 0 Feb 3 20:56 ..
16 drwx------ 2 root root 16384 Feb 1 15:43 lost+found

10:52 <@ fo0bar> there's a 160GB HD on that machine, and the installed
OS had kernel 2.4.19. but when I booted into lnx-bbc and started
mounting/writing to partitions on that drive, it fucked up the
partitions. the version I was running was kernel 2.4.18, which did
not have proper 48-bit IDE support, meaning it failed after the
    first 137GB

Heather has looked into this on google and there was some talk about
this on LKML last year. Apparently there is a back ported patch for
2.4.18 as well.

Our options:

* document it as a bug in the lnx-bbc
* wrap mount so that the first time it is run it yells and screams
  "WATCH OUT!"
* apply the back ported patch

Opinions? Ideas?
