This suggests that for my (for instance) trek ISO, where I want the full
X kit instead of tinyX, that I should 

	clone meta/lnx-bbc

		because obviously I'm lnx-trek
		besides I may want some toys on the outer cdrom

	convince it somehow to use something besides
	meta/singularity

		because I'll need to tweak the manifest for my 
		extra toys inside my singularity

	have X related packages depend on a near-cousin of the Xfree86
	package, one which does not chop out the font subdirs.  Oops.
	that means I have th hack the deps on the x-based apps.  whatta
	mess.

I essentially have to clone a notable portion of the tree.  If the
canonical "build your own" model is "clone the tree then hack" I can
work with it.  But except for exceedingly minor twiddles, or
additions-only, I can't see "make a new package" as working on its own.

I'm also not entirely clear where you sneak in reference *to* the new
package, but, I have been working for $CLIENT a good portion of
yesterday;  I suspect that part is not really all that hard to grok.
